From Building networks
Poor smoke and fire separation installation and maintenance could be the next leaky building crisis in NZ. It seems we have a long way to go to take up the lessons from the Hunn Report in 2002. This report basically said ‘we have a systemic failure in the building industry from commissioning, design, building, approvals, inspections – the whole system!
Aren’t we blessed we have not had a multi-story building fire in recent times in this country to prove the point… even if we did those of us in the “know” hold the conspiracy of non-compliance closet our chests while the public ignorantly occupy or own such buildings. Good on you Ron and Frank for getting the message out there. I just hope someone is listening and will take action!
Many of you attended the Passive Fire Seminar Series presented by Ron Green and hosted by Building Networks this year. This event has been so popular that we have put on some extra sessions for you. Click HERE to see when the session is coming to you… In the meantime Ron and Frank Wiseman from CSD Systems have put pen to paper to air their views and reveal the reality of passive protection in this country. The FPA/BRANZ report back in 2008 revealed the issues but what actions have been taken since then and are we any better off than before? It appears not….Sobering stuff…
