Owner checks on old fire alarm

Old Type 1 systems predate NZS 4512 as we know it  and NZS4512:1981, also known as Type B systems from NZS2211:1968.

The minimum testing for NZS4512 all version is monthly. NZS2211:1968 has Type B, Maintenance being “not greater than the period of time for which the system remains capable of operation when disconnected from mains supply, or monthly, whichever period is the shorter” so unlikely to be more than monthly.

The
level of technical ability required is very low, an owner would be able to do the monthly testing with minimal training.

A helpful suggestion is to have spare batteries on site in case the are needed. Usually these are the 6v lantern dry cell batteries.
