TIPS - Weathertightness

Listen to audio version below
Everyone has a part to play in Weathertightness

Ensuring weathertightness is critical to avoiding costly repairs and non-compliance issues. Designers should focus on effective design that directs water away from vulnerable areas, using appropriate cladding and joint systems. Construction trades need to ensure all flashings, membranes, and seals are correctly installed. Building control should closely examine areas prone to water ingress, especially around windows and roofs. Facilities managers must perform regular maintenance checks for early signs of leaks, while plan processing officers need to ensure designs comply with Clause E2 requirements.
